So Rush died today. Back in the day I listened to Rush more than I admitted too. It was a daily rotation of either he or Howard Stern or Jim Rome on my morning commutes to college. I seldom agreed with his observations or opinions.
About 10% of the time we agreed. I felt if Rush and I saw an issue equally, why didn't the rest of the world? While in the car, especially alone, I would find myself yelling at the radio. I found him easier to handle than most everyone now days. (e.g. Hannity, Carlson) Mark Levin makes me laugh most of the time cause he's just way out there. Savage is probably the closest I can put up with.
I'll admit, Rush was a pioneer in Talk Radio. One of the things I've noted, as much as conservatives complain regarding the media, radio is virtually 100% conservative talk. Think I'm over exaggerating? Take a long drive and listen only to the radio and work the station tuner. Last time I looked, radio is a big part of media. Hell now day's I only listen to sports radio or the news.
Rush was a leader.
His audience is loyal. I believe to a fault. However, no doubt he was a trail blazer. As Republicans the will hurry to attempt to fill the void left by Trump, radio personalities will try to equal the top spot Rush occupied. Rush's shoes will be much harder to fill.
